a plea for HELP with google bookmarks

I installed a new toolbar yesterday and now things are not working for me :( Clicking that star, adding my bookmarks and editing them is my lifeblood! I have searched for help online but cannot find the answer. Any insight?!! Please. I can still access my bookmarks, in a clunky way, but clicking on the blue star to add a new one, does nothing. Nor does right clicking the star. Save, me please.

ETA: I have spent waaaaaayyyyy too much time trying to get this back to what it was before my unfortunate download of the latest version of the Google toolbar. Finally, I googled "reinstall old version of google toolbar" (among six bizillion other things) and although I do not know how, or why, my bookmark feature has been restored to it's old self. Can I get an Amen?

Tomorrow (or possibly tonight) I can return to regularly scheduled crafting, blogging, blog reading... Pin It

what's for dinner?

Chicken Divan.

In 2003, I helped organize a family cookbook for my husband's side of the family. He has a huge extended family so there was plenty to collect, collate, print and finally distribute. I refer to mine often and have made many things.

At our family Christmas party in December, his aunt had several dishes of Chicken Divan prepared. Yum. That is something I have not made, or eaten, for years. Tonight, I whipped her recipe up and you can too:

CHICKEN DIVAN
AUNT BEV

4-6 Cups Cooked Chicken ( I use boneless Chicken Breasts and tear them into good size pieces after cooking.)

1 lg. Bag Chopped Broccoli ( Or you can use fresh and cook it and chop it )
2 Cans. Cream of Chicken Soup
1 C. Hellman’s mayonnaise
2 TBLSP. Lemon Juice
1 C. Shredded Sharp Cheese
1 C. Bread Crumbs

Put Broccoli in bottom of 9X13 dish. Place Cut chicken on top,
Mix. mayo, soup and lemon juice together. Pour over Chicken.
Tob with cheese and crumbs.

Bake 350’ for about 30 min.

Since this is something that only Dave and I will eat, I divided mine into smaller dishes and froze one. That one is actually in a disposable aluminum pan, wrapped in foil and then placed inside a Ziploc freezer bag. It might be dinner for us down the road, or meals on wheels for my parents! Pin It

how to: microwave play dough

I hear ya out there saying: I would MUCH rather just go buy play dough. I know that feeling...well. This is the second time in 5 years that the preschool has asked for homemade play dough. Apparently, back in September, I had a weak moment and signed up for January to be my month for such making. It took a phone call from another mom to remind me of this, and I procrastinated another full week, even though that kind woman brought me the recipe.
So here it is, Sunday morning and I decided to break it out so they have it for tomorrow before the month is more than half over. And guess what, it is EASY. I remember being impressed and amazed about 3 years ago too. But a microwave version? Even better. Despite what these pictures represent, I used blue food coloring. In real life it is more like turquoise. Here, you see aquamarine-ish.

Microwave Play Dough

Ingredients:
1.5 cups all purpose flour
3/4 cup salt
1.5 cups water
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
food coloring or pain

Bring 1.5 cups of water to a boil in the microwave (about 3 minutes). While water is boiling, combine flour, salt and cream of tartar in a large bowl. When the water comes to a boil, remove and add food coloring. Pour all at once into dry ingredients. Mix thoroughly with a wooden spoon. Allow to cool. Turn out onto counter and knead for about 5 minutes or until mixture is smooth. Place in plastic bag and seal.

So easy that I am thinking I should mix up another batch in a different color b/c this really isn't much for 15 kids. I do think one more mom is on the same assignment though. What would you do?

calendar creations (tutorial)

So remember the link to the really cute FREE calendar from a few days ago? Well, I got about half of what I have planned to make finished, so I thought I would go ahead and share. I think a calendar is a great gift and the month of January still provides a good time for giving! I am having some friends over in about a week, so I am going to make a stack of these up, and put them in a basket as a little gift/favor. Fun, huh?!
Anyway, to print the calendars, click the above link. Next, I used some simple binder clips. These actually came from a combo pack from the $1 Store, and had 15 in the box I think. Some are too small, so I need to grab another set.

1. I measured the clip, which is about 2.25" and cut some strips of patterned paper to that width. Then I just roughly estimated how long to make it by wrapping it around the clip, and cutting off at the edge with scissiors.

2. I painted mod podge directly onto the clip and adhered paper the paper smoothing it out as best I could. After I attached all the paper, I went back and painted each with mod podge. Let this dry thoroughly. (I may add 2009 with a Dymo Labeler.)

3. I got out a bag of my ribbon scraps and sifted through those and just began cutting little pieces and randomly tying them around the silver metal part of one side of each binder clip. I used 4 "bows" on each clip.

4. Clip your 12 months together and hang from a nail! I plan to put mine much closer to my desk for easy reference but right now it is on my wall by the door of my office/craft haven.

(see that little ow hanging from my Ikea treel?--I made that too!) Oh, the vinyl rub on owl is from Etsy: Elephannie.

tried a new recipe...

About 10 days ago, I had our neighbors over for dinner. I ordered pizza for the kids and tried this out on the adults. Layered Turkey Enchiladas. The picture and the recipe are from BHG. I thought it was really yummy, although very heavy on the peppers, which I happen to like, so it was OK to me. No one outright complained but I am not sure it was a total hit either. Oh, I subbed chicken just b/c that is what I had on hand. I realized only about 2 days ago that I forgot to make the Mexican rice I had to go along with it. Ooops.
